> 1, Feature Not Implemented
This feature has not yet been implemented.
> 2, Review Downloaded Data
The underlying window contains the data you have just
downloaded. Before you enter it into the individual history
files, you should scan it for "glitches" which may have
occured during the download. If data transmission errors
have occured, your individual stock plots may contain errors.
You can scan the data using the mouse, and the PgUp and PgDn
keys. You can also go to a particular location in the file
by pressing the first letter of the stock you would like to
see.
If a history file does inadvertently become garbled, use
"File Fix under the "File" menu to remove the bad data.
> 3, Graph Prints
Printed graphs are available from the Screen Plots.
> 4, DOS Shell
You are loading an additional copy of DOS, to allow you to
enter DOS commands from within the program.
When you have completed your DOS functions, type EXIT to
return to the program.
> 5, Select a Symbol
Select a symbol with the arrow keys or the mouse.
> 6, List Maintenance
All of the stocks, mutual funds, and incdices you track are
contained in a single list. The "Add a Symbol" and "Delete a
Symbol" allow you to add or delete symbols. Symbols for stocks
to be added can be obtained from the Compuserve menu for
"Money Matters/Markets" (7), sub menu "Issue/Symbol Lookup" (6).
The "Watch" list, imbedded in the master list, identifies
stocks of particular interest, for which you may wish to obtain
prices during the day. These may be stocks you are holding, or
have an immediate interest in. The "Download Watch Prices" menu
selection will obtain and display these prices any time you choose.
These prices will NOT be written to the permanent files.
The "Ignore" list is usually for indices, which you do not wish to
have selected when "screening" your historical data. These indices
can still be plotted from the "Plot a Stock" menu selection.
> 7, Communications Parameters
You must set all of the parameters on this chart before you can call
CompuServe. Logon to the service will then be automatic.
CompuServe Access Phone Number
Enter the local number for calling CompuServe. Obtain from
CompuServe.
User I D
Enter your CompuServe identification number (member number).
Password
Enter your CompuServe password.
Also select the highest baud rate supported by your modem and the
local CompuServe line. Select the Communications Port appropriate
for your computer. If your logon is not successful, double check
all your entries for correctness.
> 8, Modem Not Responding
Your modem is not responding. Make sure:
-it is hooked up
-power is turned on
-Com Port is set correctly for your computer
>9, Fix File
You may have inadvertently stored "garbled" data from a bad
download in a history file.
A garbled file is best repaired by re-initializing (starting
data collection over). Within just a few days, data from this
file will again be useful to you.
To start a file over:
- Choose "Edit Stock List" from the "File" menu
- Select the stock symbol of the file you wish to re-initialize
- Delete the stock symbol
- Delete the history file when asked
- Add the stock symbol back to the list as a new stock
- Choose "Save Changes"
>10, Moving Average Upturn
Moving average crossovers can be an indication that a stock's
price trend is reversing.
Definitions:
Upturn, 2-3 Day Crossing -
The stock's 2 day moving average is higher than it's 3 day moving
average, and THIS WAS NOT TRUE YESTERDAY. This may be the first
indication of an upturn.
Upturn, 3-5 Day Crossing -
The stock's 3 day moving average is higher than it's 5 day moving
average, and THIS WAS NOT TRUE YESTERDAY. This indicates a more
sustained upturn of at least 3 days.
Momentum Trader will detect these crossovers, however small.
Inspection of the screened files will indicate the magnitude
of the reversal.
>11, Moving Average Downturn
Moving average crossovers can be an indication that a stock's
price trend is reversing.
Definitions:
Downturn, 2-3 Day Crossing -
The stock's 2 day moving average is lower than it's 3 day moving
average, and THIS WAS NOT TRUE YESTERDAY. This may be the first
indication of a downturn.
Downturn, 3-5 Day Crossing -
The stock's 3 day moving average is lower than it's 5 day moving
average, and THIS WAS NOT TRUE YESTERDAY. This indicates a more
sustained downturn of at least 3 days.
Momentum Trader will detect these crossovers, however small.
Inspection of the screened files will indicate the magnitude
of the reversal.
>12, Printer Not Online
Your printer is not responding. It may not be
turned on or may be out of paper.
>13, Service Not Available
CompuServe reports that Basic Quotes are temporarily out of service.
This usually just means that more people are trying to access
BASIC QUOTES at one time than they have the capacity to handle.
To prevent someone from monopolizing the service when others are
waiting, CompuServe only allows twenty stocks to be downloaded
at a time. Momentum Trader retrieves hundreds of stocks for
you in a single phone call in blocks of twenty stocks,
automatically, by 'backing out' to a higher menu level after
each twenty. If you get this message, you have been denied
re-entry into BASIC QUOTES at the end of one of these blocks.
We suggest you try again in a few minutes, or call CompuServe
at a time when there is a lower demand.
>14, CompuServe Not Responding
Compuserve has not responded to the last request in three
minutes. Momentum Trader has attempted to hang up. You should
start your download over.
If Compuserve did not respond to the hangup command, it will be
necessary for you to cycle your modem switch off and on. If you
have an internal modem, it may be necessary to restart your
computer.
>15, User Responsibility
Momentum Trader(TM)
has been crafted to provide you, the investor,
with a powerful tool for tracking the stock market. Every effort
has been expended to provide you with accurate reports.
You, however, are responsible for your own investment decisions.
Momentum Software(TM) makes no representation and takes no
responsibility for the accuracy of data downloaded from
CompuServe(R) or to the suitability of this program for your needs.

change it's menu structure or protocol in such a way as to make
this program inoperative, Momentum Software will attempt to make
available a functional replacement to registered users as soon
as possible.

useability of this program on the CompuServe network.
>17, Invalid Parameter
You cannot use this type of fraction (i.e. 3 1/8). Use decimal
fractions instead (i.e. 3.125)
>18, Subdirectory Doesn't Exist
You must specify the subdirectory which contains your Windows on
WallStreet(TM) security files. You have specified a subdirectory which
does not exist on your hard disk.
Check your WOW setup to determine the proper subdirectory for your
security files. After it is correctly entered, Momentum Trader will
remember the correct entry in the future.
>19, Export Files to Windows on WallStreet
Momentum Trader will now copy your latest files into a format usable
by WOW. Files with less than three days of data will not be copied. WOW
requires at least three days of data to begin a plot. To avoid
confusion, MTrader will screen out all files less than three days
long.
All your "free" MTrader data can simply be imported into WOW using the
following method. From the WOW main menu:
1. Click on "Securities"
2. Click on "Import"
3. Select "CSV" files (it should already be highlighted)
4. Click on stock to import, or "Select All"
5. Click on "Import"
6. Click "OK" or "OK To All"
7. Answer "Update Previous Existing Securities?", (Click on "Yes")
All your MTrader files are now usable in WOW, without paying an
additional download fee.
